Teeez Glam Sense Box 2015

I got my first Glam Sense Box in the mail last week, but I couldn’t take any pictures of it since the lighting is TERRIBLE over here and the sun sets around 5pm these days.

Here’s the Teeez Glam Sense Box!

The Teeez Glam Sense Box had one item: the Read My Lips Lipstick in Roulette Red. It came in a sleek black tube with a small brochure with some simple instructions on how to complete the Glam Sense campaign.

Basically, review, post on a social media platform with #teeezinGS, and email a link or a screenshot to info@glamsense.club by the date listed on the card! It’s so easy!

So, how is Teeez’s Read My Lips Lipstick in Roulette Red?

The lipstick is in a thin, plastic tube, which I was a little bit disappointed about. The graphic design is absolutely amazing, but I don’t like cheap plastic for higher end cosmetics! I’m always worried that the tube will crack or get crushed in my makeup bag or in my purse.

However, the lid does lock pretty tightly on the tube, so that’s really good. I’m not sure if that’ll wear out in the future, though.

I’m not a huge fan of matte lipsticks since they usually dry out my (already) dry lips, but I love super high, long lasting pigmentation!

Right out of the tube, it looks like a dark red with some brown tones. I usually avoid darker reds like this because it kind of clashes with my skin tones and I just don’t have the right mojo to really pull of that kind of style.

Otherwise, it’s a really great, dramatic shade of red!

As you can see, it’s SUPER pigmented! It’s just 2 quick swipes of the lipstick on my hand and it’s so, so red!

I tested it on my lips and I can tell you that it can easily last 8 hours of wear. I ate a big lunch with coffee and it didn’t budge at all! It’s also very silky and rich feeling without being very heavy, which is really amazing since it’s so pigmented.

The only issue is that the lipstick is really soft. My mom twisted the tube the wrong way and the whole lipstick fell right out! Be careful of heat with this lippy!

Final Verdict – I love how long lasting and moisturizing Teeez’s Read My Lips Lipstick is, but I wouldn’t keep it with me in a small purse or in a warm room. The artwork is gorgeous, but the packaging is so-so. I would have loved it a lot more if it was a different colour, but that’s just personal preference!

At $22USD, it comes up to about $29.50CAD before shipping and taxes.

Did you get a Glam Sense Box yet? Would you get a Teeez Read My Lips Lipstick?

Happy New Year! It’s 2015! – Resolutions

Happy New Year! It’s a brand new year and there’s a lot of opportunities to look forward to!

It’s usually around this time that people make “resolutions” and most of them are given up within a month or two. One of the reasons why I hated going to gyms in January because it’s always so packed with new members trying to start the new year with a new exercise routine. (By February, it’s usually dead but it’s a lot easier to find a machine!)

I can’t really relate to most resolutions because I’ve found that most resolutions are too vague to really commit to. The most common resolutions are usually something vague like, “Lose Weight” or “Quit Smoking” or “Get Fit.” How can you commit to a goal when there’s no solid plan or direction to achieve that goal?

That’s why I’m posting my resolutions here with a (rough) outline of what I’ll do to achieve it!

1. Run a 5K in under 45mins

I’ve already been working on this one since September when I walked the Oasis Zoo 5K, so I’m well on the way to achieve that! I’m currently at running 2.5km non-stop but I go as far as 5km without completely dying.

I’m planning on registering for the Oasis Zoo 5K Run 2015 very soon, so I won’t really be able to fail this without losing a bunch of money.

Of course, I’ll have to change my eating habits to be a little more energy-dense and long-lasting for the run, so there’s the whole “healthy eating” spin on that resolution, too!

2. Completely use up at least one tube of lipstick

I have so many lipsticks that I don’t know what to do with them! It’s going to be a really hard exercise in self-control to use only one lipstick for stretches at a time, but I’ll do my best to do it!

Most likely, I’ll be sticking with my Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick or the relatively new Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick in Adora that I picked up in early December, I think. Adora’s a lovely metallic golden red, so both can be used in a lot of situations!

3. Learn French

Yeah, I’ve had French classes up to Grade 10 in high school, but it’s not like I remember anything and I can’t conjugate a sentence if my life depended on it.

I’m being surrounded by French at work and with the Monsieur, so I figure that it’s a sign that I should pick up the language!

3. Not break up with the Monsieur

We’re doing really well (in my opinion, at least), so it’s not a huge challenge, but it’s definitely one that needs a lot of work and open communication from both of us.

The communication part of this resolution is something that I know I need to work on in general, too!

This last one’s kind of vague, but it’s not like I want to break up with him in general, so it’s more of an ongoing thing.

That’s all the “resolutions” I have for 2015. Many of these resolutions need a lot of mental preparation, psychological and spirital change, and, most importantly, a willingness to embrace that change.

I hope you all have a great new year and that 2015 will be a good one!

Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick – Wolvesmouth

Have you ever suddenly get an image in your mind of something that makes you go, “Oh, my god… That would look SO awesome!”?

Maybe it’s a specific type of shoe or a really cute top that sort of maybe exists but you’re not overly sure but that’s okay because you really shouldn’t be spending more money than you should, but I’m sure you know that craving urge of “I HAVE to have it.”

That’s what happened to me earlier this week. Somehow, I imagined deep, plum-berry lips with a tiny bit of metallic shimmer that I knew would be absolutely perfect for my complexion for Fall and I needed to find out if it existed.

Luckily, I found this gem at Sephora!

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Wolvesmouth

This is Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Wolvesmouth! It’s a gorgeous metallic berry shade with a slight shimmer and tiny flecks of iridescent blue glitter.

I had NO idea that I would actually be able to find the exact lipstick I had imagined! It’s actually better than I imagined because the iridescent blue gives it another level of depth that’s really beautiful.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Wolvesmouth

It’s definitely a luxury lipstick at $26 at Sephora, but I’ve heard really good things about how Kat Von D’s lasting power and, after it stayed on my hand after testing and trying to remove it with makeup remover, I have to confirm that it’s definitely got the value!

The only issue I have is that there’s only a few different colours available at the physical store. I know that shelf space is extremely valuable real estate in retail shelves and Kat Von D only has one section, but there’s so many shades offered online that aren’t on the shelf that I want to test first before deciding to buy it or not.

Verdict: 4.75/5 – If you’re looking for a really pigmented, slick and great lasting lipstick, it’s hard to beat Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick line. Just be prepared to take a risk ordering online if you can’t find the shade you’re looking for in the store!

Have you tried Kat Von D’s lipstick or one of her other cosmetics? What do you think about it?

Limited Edition Chatelaine Topbox – Blogger Swap

I did another blogger swap with Chris over at The Other Side of the Box!

We decided to swap subscription boxes this time. She definitely knows her way around the beauty subscription boxes, so I wasn’t too surprised at what she got me!

Limited Edition Chatelaine Topbox

It’s the Limited Edition Chatelaine Topbox! It came with a 12-issue subscription to the Chatelaine magazine, but that won’t be showing up until July. I cost about $40 and, because it’s part of their Limited Edition line, it was available to non-subscribers as well.

It’s wrapped up so cutely! It actually reminds me a lot of how Petite Boite a Vie wraps their boxes.

Limited Edition Chatelaine Topbox

The box is PACKED! The weight should have tipped me off, but I haven’t really been paying attention to any of the email promos that I get, so it was a nice surprise to see so many full sized things in this box.

Let’s dig in, with no particular order!

Be Delectable’s Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Strawberry and Cream – $12 for 118mL (Full sized)

It actually smells like a strawberries and cream cake! It goes on really nicely and it take too long to be absorbed into the skin, either.

Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother – $24 for 100mL ($9.60 for 40mL travel size sample)

My hair is naturally straight without ANY frizz at all unless it’s an ultra-humid day, so this one will probably go into a swap pile or I’ll give it away to a friend. It’s a really generous size and it smells pretty good if not a bit herbal.

Yves Rocher Grand Rouge Lipstick in Bordeaux – $19 for 3.7g (Full sized)

How elegant is that tube? I love the plated gold finish because it makes it seem so Chanel-y and I’m sure I’ll feel more classy than I really am when I put it on! 😉

It doesn’t look too bad on me either, but it’s so pigmented and it’s darker than what I usually wear for every day chores. It’s perfect for special events, though!

Sweet Pea Soap in Mango Papaya – $5.95 (Full size)

This soap is actually really light in scent, which I prefer, and it’s made with all natural ingredients. It doesn’t feel like it would leave a strange residue like some other bar soaps and it’s also earth-friendly! It really does smell like I could eat it, too.

Good thing it’s fruit season!

Ceramic Glaze in Blueberry Bubblegum (blue) and Honolulu Hibiscus (purple) – (Full size, exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart)

This is a new brand that’s exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart and it’s supposed to be packed full of pigment and long lasting wear. I really like this duo of colours since it’s so tropical and summery but it can do really well in the fall and spring as well!

Can’t wait to try it out!

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream – $32 for 125mL ($1.79 for 7mL sample)

For some reason, I’ve managed to stay under a rock about Kiehl’s until about last year but I’ve also never really had an inclination to try it. Still, it feels pretty moisturizing but I can’t tell yet if it actually reduces the appearance of oil on my skin. I try not to sweat and when I do, I don’t really care about it!

Be a Bombshell’s Eyeshadow Quad in Bora Bora – $16 for 4 colours, 4.8g total (Full size)

The colours are much richer and more intense than what you see in the picture. I couldn’t really get an accurate photo that day for some reason…

The shades sort of remind me of what the BH Cosmetics line was trying to do, but Be a Bombshell does it a lot better and a lot cheaper, too! The colours are really pigmented and the shades are vibrant and playful without looking too gaudy.

So Susan’s Intense Eye Shadow Palette – $29.96 for 4 colours, 8g total (Full size

I really like how the two palettes in this box are so different! I’d totally rock this palette when I want a more professional, classier look compared to the brighter, more energetic one from Be a Bombshell. This one’s also really pigmented and silky and also cruelty free!

(How did Chris know that I was starting to think of getting more eyeshadows? Psychic creepiness…)

Jewels & Aces’ Crystal Triangle Cuff – $28

Can I tell you how much I absolutely love this bracelet? It’s my new favourite accessory for all occasions! Their other pieces of jewelry are really gorgeous, too. Plus, they’re a Canadian company!

The Shopping Channel $50 Coupon

I haven’t really decided what to get from them, but I do know that they don’t have a minimum purchase order for this voucher! Oh-my-gawd, this is gonna be too much fun.

Verdict – 5/5! I really, REALLY like this box because there’s just so much variety, great value and it’s a perfectly balanced box that has familiar and new brands to try out! Plus, it comes with a magazine subscription for some extra reading!

Thank you so much, Chris! Don’t forget to check out her fabulous blog here!

Did you get a Limited Edition Chatelaine Topbox? Would you get one of Topbox’s LE boxes? (So many “box”-es in one sentence…)

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick – Coral Blossom

I’ve been eyeing this lipstick for a few months now, but I never got around to pick it up! Now that the weather’s been warming up and spring is finally here with bright sunshine, I figured that a cute coral lip colour was totally needed.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Coral Blossom

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom – $19 for 3.1g

Okay, first thing’s first… How adorable is this packaging?! The tube is wrapped in beautiful, high-quality paper that reminds me of Japanese washi paper even though it’s inspired by the vibrant colours and patterns of the Amazon. What’s even cuter is that each different shade has a different pattern, too!

I picked out Coral Blossom, which is a lovely salmon/coral pink with a touch of golden shimmer in it.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Coral Blossom

It’s perfect for the spring sunshine!

It lists jojoba seed oil, Candelilla wax, shea butter, carnauba wax, peppermint oil, Murumuru seed butter, and some sort of flower seed butter as part of their ingredients, along with a plethora of other chemicals to keep it solid and lasting.

It looks so cute on me, but I think I had some sort of reaction to it! It felt really tingly when I first put it on and I was assuming it was for the “plumping effect” that it was supposed to give.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Coral Blossom

Then, my lips got completely dry and chapped, very much like when I got wind burn over the winter! The skin keeps flaking off and I’m guessing it might be the peppermint oil that Tarte claims to cause the plumping effect! NOOOOOOO!

I let my poor lips recover with my EOS lip balm and then tried again without any bad effects! Hopefully, it really was just the super windy weather and not the plumping effects.

Do you have a go-to coral that you use? What’s your favourite lipstick?

Blogger Swap – Lipstick

Yay! Second blog swap with the lovely bff at The Other Side of the Box!

We had so much fun with the last swap that we decided to do another one right after it. This time, it’s LIPSTICK!

I know Chris likes (re: LOVES) lipstick, so I was looking forward to see what kind of fancy lipstick she got me!

Youngblood Lipstick - Just Pink

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Lipstick in Just Pink – $19.50-ish

It doesn’t look like it’s readily available in Canada just yet even though my first search showed that Target carries it even though Target doesn’t offer an online catalog of any sort. Spa Boutique does have it for $19.50 with a $10 shipping fee, but if you spend $75 or more, the shipping is free.

It comes in a nice, sleek little black tube that snaps shut, which I do appreciate since I always seem to find my lipsticks with the cap half off in my purse!

Youngblood Lipstick - Just Pink Swatch

The lipstick goes on pretty nicely and the shade itself is really lovely. I usually go for redder, brighter colours but I can definitely use this for every day wear! It’s a little patchy on my lips right now, but I have some pretty deep lip lines and it’s still winter so all of my lippies go on funky. That being said, it does a very good job of hydrating my chapped lips after a couple applications!

Also, it’s a cruelty-free product made with natural ingredients! Yay!

Have you tried Youngblood Cosmetics? What’s your favourite lip colour?

Don’t forget to check out The Other Side of the Box!

Yaby Lip – Fantasy Ambush (lc035)

I managed to get my hands on some Yaby products and I tried out their lip pot. It’s tiny, but the shade Fantasy Ambush has a nice raspberry colour to it with some shimmer that really calls out to me.

Behold my glorious MS Paint skills and crappy photography!

Seriously, the Yaby lip pot is like 1cm in diameter. Super, super tiny. The lip product itself isn’t anything spectacular to speak of. It’s actually pretty dry without a gloss or a balm to go with it!

It’s a bit muted compared to the other lip colours I’ve been using lately, but it’s still quite nice. We’ll see how it holds up as the night wears on.

xoxo, B.Elle
