Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush

I like to keep my brushes clean and in good condition, just like my kitchen knives! You have to maintain your tools of the trade, you know?

I had been using this mini kabuki brush from a cheaper brand before and I was so surprised to find that the entire brush head completely fell out of the handle when I was washing out the bristles! What the hell! Luckily, it was given to me by a friend who got it in a sub box and didn’t want it.

I had already planned on going to Sephora to use up a gift card I had leftover from Christmas, so I figured I might as well use it up! After browsing the store for about 45 minutes with Chris, I finally settled on this one!

Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush

Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Multi-Tasking Brush – $40

I really, really like this brush! The bristles are so soft and delicate and it feels great against the skin. It’s also retractable with a lid in a cute pink tin container for storage!

It’s so soft, but the bristles are actually made from “100% teddy bear hair”! Like the rest of Too Faced’s products, the kabuki brush is completely cruelty free without using any animal products at all.

It says that you can use it for bronzers, blushes, powders and even liquid makeup, but I only use powder foundation and it works fantastically! In terms of pro-level brushes, this one is really nice.

I was told to be careful to make sure not to get water below the metal part of the brush when I’m cleaning it out, and to let it dry upside down. When the time comes, I wonder how I’m going to figure out how to dry this thing upside down…

Verdict: 4.5/5 – It’s a wonderful brush! I really do like it, but the price is a bit too high for my liking as a non-pro makeup girl. That being said, it’s perfect as a treat-yourself purchase!

What sort of makeup brushes do you like to use?

Sephora Haul!

I thought I lost my Sephora gift card from Christmas, so imagine my surprise when I found it hiding with my Beauty Insider card in my compact mirror!

It couldn’t have shown itself at a better time since I literally just broke my old (and seriously cheapo) kabuki brush just by trying to wash the gunk out of it. Plus, I’ve been eyeing the Tarte Amazon Butter lipsticks for a while, too!

Here’s what I got!

Sephora Haul

Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Multi-Tasking Brush – $40

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom – $19 for 3.1g

Aren’t they just adorable? I’ll be posting my reviews on them soon, but I’ll have to admit that this Tarte lipstick is quickly turning into my spring go-to lippy!
